This documentary was adapted from the book, “Guns, Germs, and Steel”, written by Jared Diamond. He was also the host for the documentary. He was spending a good deal of time in Papua New Guinea doing research when a native named Yali, posed Diamond this question: “Why do white people have so much cargo, but we New Guineans have so little?” (the local term “cargo” for inventions and manufactured goods). Diamond could not answer his question and it spurred him to look for the reason why the dominance of wealth and power by the whites.
