On 09/May, Singapore shares end higher Monday boosted by strong U.S. jobs data and rebound in commodity prices.

STI ended higher at 3136.94 (1.2 %) with LOW VOL of 909.4 million shares traded compared with 967 million shares Friday. In the broader market, gainers outnumbered losers 317 to 118. Today STI broke the critical resistance at 3120 as results have removed a degree of uncertainty to the local financial markets.

Singapore Telecommunications Ltd. (Z74.SG) said that Simon Israel, currently the executive director and president of state investment firm Temasek Holdings, will succeed Chumpol NaLamlieng as chairman and director.

Noble Group are expected to sell its 100 per cent-owned Donaldson Coal Pty Ltd, which has coal mines in the Hunter Valley in New South Wales state, to Gloucester.
