SIA Eng 1Q net profit fell 3.8% to S$68.1m!

On 26/July, Singapore shares ended higher though investors remains cautious after U.S. President Obama signaled little progress on raising the debt ceiling.

STI ended higher at 3186.57 (0.5%) with HIGH VOL of 1.37 billion shares traded compared with 1.14 billion shares Monday. In the broader market, gainers outnumbered losers 342 to 169. Despite STI rose 0.5% today but the buying pressure remains relatively weak as investors are cautious on the outcome ahead.

SIA Engineering Co. Ltd. (S59.SG) 1Q net profit fell 3.8% to S$68.1 million compared with S$70.8 million a year ago due to a government job credit scheme ended and non-operating income fell.

Singapore Technologies Engineering had secured over S$260 million (US$215.4 million) worth of maintenance contracts in the second quarter.
