Olam Buys Sugar Mill In India For US$73.8M!

On 31/Aug, Singapore shares ended higher as investors hope for further measures to stimulate the U.S. Economy.

STI ended higher at 2885.26 (3.3%) with HIGH VOL of 2.28 billion shares traded compared with 1.23 billion shares Monday. In the broader market, gainers outnumbered losers 513 to 89. Today STI rally with very strong buying pressure as investors are bullishness on the global economic growth ahead.

CapitaLand Ltd. (C31.SG) said its serviced residence business unit, The Ascott Ltd., has signed contracts to manage two properties in China.

Wilmar International Ltd. (F34.SG) said its Australian unit Sucrogen is “disappointed” at being unable to secure the required level of support from Proserpine Co-operative Sugar Milling Association members to buy the assets of the sweetener producer.
