Online Seminar on Financial Planning for Persons with Special Needs

There will be an online seminar conducted this Saturday, 10th September 2011 at 10:00AM regarding financial planning for Persons with Special Needs (PSNs). PSNs are individuals who suffer from some forms of disabilities such as Down’s Syndrome, Autism, etc. PSNs’ prospects in securing or advancing in education, employment and recreation could be substantially reduced as a result of their disabilities. In this seminar, you’ll learn how – and why – financial planning for persons with special needs is so important. Some of the issues discussed will be:
  • How many PSNs are there in Singapore?
  • What are the government support available for PSNs?
  • What are the concerns and constraints faced by parents whose children are PSNs?

As an adult, I’ve been through many ups and downs in my career path and personal finance journey, not unlike many Singaporeans. From my years as a tied insurance agent turned independent financial adviser, I realised that there are very few sources of proper, unbiased financial advice for working adults to access. Worse, self-styled “financial consultants” are selling products like savings plans and ILPs to the detriment of the clients whose interests they were supposed to serve.
