KepCorp Signs Initial Rig-Building Pact Worth US$4.12 Bln!

On 12/April, Singapore shares ended higher boosted by a drop in Spanish and Italian government borrowing rates.

STI ended higher at 2978.14 (1.1%) with HIGH VOL of 3.30 billion shares traded compared with 3.55 billion shares Wednesday. In the broader market, gainers outnumbered losers 237 to 138. Today STI merely rebound slightly on weak buying pressure due to recent sell off.

Cosco Corp. (Singapore) Ltd. (F83.SG) has secured a contract worth US$75 million from SeaDrill Ltd. (SDRL.OS) after the Norwegian company converted an option into a firm contract.

After market close

Keppel Corp. (BN4.SG) said Thursday its unit has signed a letter of intent with Sete Brasil Participacoes SA to design and build five additional semi-submersible drilling rigs, ahead of a potential deal valued around US$4.12 billion.
