I read with great interest the Straits Time article Is Monetary Policy Enough To Fight Inflation? by Aaron Low. Inflation has always been one of the key concerns for people and especially me since I am investing, educating and practicing financial planning. One of the primary reasons to invest has always been to maintain the same level of purchasing power, which is to invest for returns which neutralize or exceed inflation levels.
If you look at core inflation in my last article Beating Inflation With Savvy Investments and Prudent Spending during Jan of this year, core inflation was just 2.4% with the government expecting it to be between 1.5% and 2%. Today, we are looking at core inflation of 3%.
