This week, Budget trivia! — Budget 2015 is almost upon us in a few weeks and in anticipation of the announcement, we’ve cracked open the history books to take a look at the Budgets of yore. It’s quite amazing to see how far we’ve come since the first every Budget was announced in 1966 by then Minister of Finance Lim Kan San. Back then, the aim of the tabled Budget was to rapidly develop Singapore’s capabilities. Lim was tasked to develop export-oriented, labour-intensive industries so that jobs would be created for Singaporeans.
