SGX Implements Minimum Trade Price – Time To Get Out Of Penny Stocks~!

Companies which do not comply will either be moved to catalist or be put on SGX watchlist. Theoretical example: If you are an investor holding 500,000 shares in a company trading at a price of S$0.05, and the company decides to undertake a share consolidation of 10:1 to meet the MTP requirement, you will own 50,000 shares priced theoretically at $0.50 after the share consolidation action. In my view, for the long run this will be good for the market as it brings in stability and liquidity like what we have seen in mature markets such as the US. However in the short run this will kill the entire penny stock speculation business, I fear that many remisiers will soon ......
