I belong to the generation of Singaporeans who didn’t live through the “tough times” that Singapore went through. Its hard to imagine Singapore as it was fifty years ago, and its a testament to the pioneer generations that they got so many decisions right over the years.

I’ve read The Singapore Story: Memoirs of Lee Kuan Yew quite a few times. You can really see how Lee Kuan Yew’s thought processes had a lasting impression on Singapore in its formative years and thereafter.

I don’t agree with every policy that the PAP Government has promoted over the years. But over the course of my travels, it strikes me that by and large, we have made reasonable decisions given our circumstances.
