May is the best month for dividends. Most of the Singapore companies will give out their dividends in May but we will have the ex-dividend effect. Meaning when the stocks goes ex-dividend, the price of the stocks will go down in response to the dividends going out. Somestimes, price can go down even lower than the amount of dividends paid out. This month I added more SIA Eng into my portfolio. The day before the result was announced, SIA Eng price shot up abit and thought good result was in the pipeline. SIA Eng posts a 36.5% rise in 4Q to $41.4 million as revenue and expenditure decline. The resulting operating profit of $23.1 million was 32.5% lower compared to the same quarter last year.
