SINGAPORE BOTANIC GARDENS UNESCO: what it means for Singapore stocks?

Yesterday, it was announced that Singapore Botanic Gardens was declared a UNESCO World Heritage site. While as a Singaporean, I am pleased to read the news, I am not too surprised about Singapore’s winning, as it seems that all along, we are confident of a win. Let us now see how the new UNESCO status of Singapore Botanic Gardens means for Singapore stocks. To be a UNESCO world heritage site is not easy, and it is even harder for a small island like Singapore to have a UNESCO world heritage site. The most obvious benefits to Singapore will be the economical benefits as I believe many tourists will now have an additional item on their travel destination list to tick, especially for those who love nature. Stocks which will benefit from UNESCO Singapore Botanic Gardens are aplenty: from airline stocks like SIA, Tiger Airways; to hospitality stocks like CDL HT ......
