TODAY: School content being cut to focus on critical learning
My granny used to say to me, "Go to school. Study hard. Get a good job. Earn lots of money."
I took her advice to heart. I went to school. I studied hard. I crammed as much as an average student can cram into his head.
But you know what?
In the end, I never made any money from knowing organic chemistry, fluid mechanics or pharmaceutical manufacturing.
The Chemical Engineering degree that I worked my butt off was not applicable for my first job. Or my second. Or my third. Or my current career.
So my twenty years of formal education accumulated into a shiny paper certificate that did little to earn me lots of money. It did not prepare me for the reality of working life either:
