Over the weekend, I completed my reading on the book "The Psychology of Wealth: Understanding Your Relationship with Money and Achieve Prosperity". The author is psychotherapist Dr. Charles Richards.
Through the lens of society, wealth is often viewed as the amount of monetary assets in one's possession. Measuring the degree of material affluence is an easy yardstick to sort people into the lower, middle and upper classes of society. Yet, physical wealth has little or no bearing on our innermost desire - to live our days in happiness.
Instead, Dr. Richards argues for a more holistic definition. Not only should true wealth enrich a person's life, it should empower him/her to achieve his/her higher calling. Being wealthy means having high self-esteem and confidence. It entails being consciously aware of our financing options and spending. It involves having positive control of our life direction, ......
