Q3 Net profit was up 22% with the boost coming from the higher equipment sales and a one-time gain from the deconsolidation of a subsidiary. I would think of it as more of a one off event and core earnings from mobile/TV/broadband seems be stable.
9 month revenues were up 4% and net profits up 6%.
Free cash flow seems to be be weak as it declined 31%, this is an area that I would watch closely.
There's been a lot of worries of Netflix coming into the singapore market and eating into starhub's juicy Pay TV business. This segment contributes only a small 16.6% and my personal view is that their targeted demographics are a little different. Pay TV still serves well to aunties who likes to chase dramas as well as teens/adults who like to watch soccer, I do no expect starhub to see a decline ......
