"Tide Comes In And Tide Goes Out" Investing

Fellow blogger Createwealth8888 recently shared an interesting article regarding two investing styles as described by Brian Spector, senior partner of $27 billion mega hedge fund, Baupost Group.  You can read CW's blog post here.  Spector's article can be found here. The first style described by Spector is called "needle in a haystack" investing.  This is practised by many local bloggers.  One sifts through hundreds of companies to find the few good ones that are currently under the radar. It is akin to gold prospecting by a river.  Most of the time you end up with mud and silt.  In a rare instance, you may hit pay dirt and discover an undervalued company. It takes intensive research and a discerning eye to spot the diamond in the rough.  There is also no guarantee that Mr. Market will agree with you and push the price up ......
