Medishield Life

So, Medishield Life is a new universal coverage health insurance plan rolled out by our government on 1/11/15, and I’m here to give you the lowdown on it. Previously, Medishield was a government provided basic health insurance plan. It was subsidized, had a lot of limits  both annually and over a lifetime, and could be opted out of. It only covered hospital admissions, with limits that generally only fully paid up to C wards, and had a deductible (of how much I can’t remember exactly, but somewhere like $2-3000) and co-insurance (10%.) You also had the option to top up some money to purchase a Private Medical Insurance (PMI) integrated plan, to increase/remove some limits, and allow you to pay off a larger portion or all of your bill even when you go to higher classes of wards, and private hospitals.
