I buy shares on SC for the low cost and I am aware that the shares are not in my custody. I am particular about low cost for buying shares (1% or less if possible) so this is the main reason. Today I called in to ask two questions and actually this is a note for my own record as I have set aside some work for myself: Q1) Every month I get a hard copy statement of securities and every buy and sell, I get a securities contract note, can I opt in for e-statement or soft copies. Answer - they only have hard copies for this function. I must continue to diligently scan in the monthly statements then, sigh. For the contract notes, I just update the information in my tracker spreadsheet. Q2 ) Can I transfer my shares to my CDP? Answer - Yes, ......
