The “Sam Goi” effect on Singapore stocks once again?

Super Group stock closed at $0.75 on 18 Aug 2016 and yesterday the stock closed at $0.81 on a high volume, an 8% increase in the share price of Super Group. While this gradual increase might not be impressive, what is noteworthy is that Mr Sam Goi, the “Popiah King” via his company, Yee Yih Jia Food manufacturing has been buying the shares of Super Group stock. Super Group itself has been doing a daily share buyback as well. Mr Goi is a substantial shareholder in Super Group with a 10.28% stake. One company where Mr Goi is a substantial shareholder too with a 11.53% stake is Global Yellow Pages Limited. The stock has increased by more than 39.3% since middle July 2016.
