The Reality that Singapore investors must understand

Shareholders of SMRT will go to the vote for the proposed privatisation of SMRT and the delisting of the stock from the SGX. From what was reported in the newspapers, there are some investors who are not happy with the $1.68 offer as they think that the valuation of SMRT should be higher. Of course, if I were a shareholder of SMRT, I might also feel the same way since I have always remembered SMRT stock at $2.04 which was actually the price of SMRT when I first saw its stock price.The takeover prices of Tiger Airways, NOL were also similarly lower than what some would have expected too. I learnt that lower takeover prices are indicative of the new operating environment if these businesses.
