The interest rates continue to drop as expected, and the long term average interest rate is now at the lowest point since the inception of SSBs. The average 1-year interest is at 1.62% and the average 10-year interest is at 1.74%, which is the lowest by far. 

The reward for holding SSBs over long term is almost insignificant. Therefore, SSBs currently should only be considered for short term holding, probably less than year. If you are looking at anything for more than a year, fix deposit should provide better returns.
