Portfolio Transactions Update (June 2019)

Updates for my portfolio for June 2019 Still need a lot of work on my portfolio watchlist, looking to include shares from other developed nations. I am still working on something on the side, hope to get something out by end of next month. Let’s see how it goes. I am also facing new stressful challenges at work, hope I would be able to perform to hit my next milestone salary in the next few years. Sell Hongkong Land for 6.8 Reasons I missed the peak at 7.5, but didn’t have any opportunities then Selling shift funds from HKL...

A CPF Talk during the Weekend

I was thinking to brush up my knowledge on CPF, so I decided to attend a CPF Event named “Maximising Your Money”. Unfortunately, I didn’t benefit from it as much as I would like (partly because the speakers had no time to really go indepth due to the lack of time). Here’s the event description from the CPF website: But here’s some things I find are key takeaways: For Mr Soh’s talk CPF has a retirement calculator that determines the amount of savings you need based on your desired age and retirement lifestyle (it allows you to specify your...

Random thoughts about REITs outperformance

I was having a discussion with a friend regarding selecting companies that grow fast. The general agreement would be either: Asset Light Businesses that are easily scalable (ideally that generates a lot of cash to sustain growth) Companies that gear up more to grow Regarding the second point, we touched on REITs. You see REIT asset class has been a strong performer for quite some as stated by Chris of Treeofprosperity here. I actually went to have a look at the other markets as I was wondering is it because of a more Asian mentality about properties that real...

Thoughts on 1M65 CPF Idea

I had attended a talk from Loo Cheng Chuan recently (Thank you Alvin and Alex for the invite). I was always curious on what he had to share and why did he think of it that way (I am late to the bandwagon I know, but I admit that CPF is not on the top of my priority considering I will hit the Full Retirement Sum with my SA alone by 49 assuming no increase in salary until then). Here is some of my interpretations. Scarred by experience of the 1997-1998 Asian Financial Crisis He started as a fresh...

Portfolio Transactions Update (April 2019)

Updates for my portfolio for April 2019 Still need a lot of work on my portfolio watchlist, looking to include shares from other developed nations. I finally paid off two of my balance transfers, a reminder that interest costs >3% is kinda expensive (Maybank is cheapest so far), just feels sad that the interest reduces my returns. Considering the maximum balance transfer I can take will reduce the gearing I have for the portfolio and Maybank REIT financing interest costs have increased to 3.28% from 2.88%, probably focus on investing better and probably use the balance transfers as a...

Tibits I learnt from Keppel-KBS REIT AGM 2019

Sorry I was late so I didn’t get a good picture :( (Thank you Solace for reserving a seat for me :) ) This AGM was surprisingly good, both investors asked good questions and management was quite open with the answers. Interestingly, most of the crowd are perhaps at least 40 and above. Seems like quite a few retirees or soon to be retirees. I also find some weird pleasure that the chairman and CEO is American but the CFO is Asian ^^” So let’s get on to it: Management considers their REIT to be rather small (~1B in...

Singapore Savings Bonds Historical Chart

A tiny update. I removed the link to Morningstar Financials as the function doesn’t seem to be working. I added a chart which I show all Singapore Savings Bonds interest rates since the first issue until now. I was thinking as I try to buy equities using  historical ranges figured it might apply to bonds (sorta). The link is here: https://az-ra-el.blogspot.com/p/singapore-savings-bonds-historical-chart.html  Think it could be useful. Hope it...
