Singapore Savings Bonds Historical Chart

A tiny update. I removed the link to Morningstar Financials as the function doesn’t seem to be working. I added a chart which I show all Singapore Savings Bonds interest rates since the first issue until now. I was thinking as I try to buy equities using  historical ranges figured it might apply to bonds (sorta). The link is here: https://az-ra-el.blogspot.com/p/singapore-savings-bonds-historical-chart.html  Think it could be useful. Hope it...

OCBC 360 Account New Interest Rates (Effective from 01April19) and a blog revamp

Wanted to post this earlier but been busy recently. The last update was November 2018 here. After that they did a short term promotion about increasing the Salary crediting for the next 35k to 2%. Seems like they made it permanent. I have been hesitant to switch to DBS Multiplier for meagre increased interest rates on a lower account balance. Seems like there’s no need perhaps anymore (though the Multicurrency account is tempting for dividends, but perhaps can use FSMOne for it). So let’s do the spreadsheet thingy again. So from the numbers, I actually yielded more by up...

Opened CPFIS, SRS accounts as well as a cheaper way of selling CDP shares

This is a short update on what I have done recently. I read thinking about AK using CPF OA as part of his warchest long ago. Seeing the yield curve so flat and almost zero, made me consider again. Do note that I do not have any large expenses soon that would consume my CPF to 0 or just 20k. So figured I would be interested in utilising my CPFIS OA funds to invest if opportunities arises. By habit, as I know fees reduces returns in the long run I had to compare the fees. Generally, fees are the...

Tibits I learnt from “Generate Thousands in Cash on your Stocks Before Buying or Selling Them”

I’m still brushing up my knowledge on Options writing as a means to enhance and complement my investing methodology (you can see the first post here). First to note is that the book is almost a pure TA book, annoyingly (with methodology rather subjective to me, don’t have much luck with triangles and candlesticks, etc), and trading on sentiments (which I don’t have much luck either). That being said, the various custom indicators he used (probably because charting software was rather old during the 2000s), could be replaced and similar indicators should give similar results (he has MACD, ADX,...

Dabbling in Options in my Portfolio

If any of you noticed, I have recently sold 2 Put Options in my recent transactions for Axos Financial. Figured I pen down what I read up on. I recently was interested again in Options after starting to dip my toes into the US markets, particularly by TTI’s post here. Not to mention Warren Buffett sells long term European Puts. I do remember long time back, there’s quite a few trainers who teach them, Sean Seah VIOS, Clement Chiang Live Freely, etc, but I didn’t have much time to do much reading up except tiny bits here and there....

A Weekend at Alpha Summit

Last weekend, The Fifth Person held an event, Alpha Summit for both the public and Alpha Lab members (Yes, I am a subscriber, you can find the link here). There were different speakers (Rusmin, Victor, Kenny and Jun Hao) covering their topics ranging from financial ratios for screening, to portfolio management, to the retail industry, to market cycles and even new case studies of companies not covered in Alpha Lab yet. I will go through some of the highlights which made more impact to me. On Asset light businesses Investors tend to do well with such companies Much more...
