I’ve Got An Idea…To Get To Know YOU Better!

Even though my original intention of starting this blog is to share my personal investing venture and experiences, but after two months or so plus a little bit of research on the local (Singapore) retail investment scene, I find that it is quite vibrant and there are a few popular online community that the peers are sharing their tips, lobang and rumours. There are some established forums (like Share Junction) and Value Buddies etc.) and blogs (like  The Motley Fool, Investment Moats etc.) but I haven’t seen any site/blog getting to know YOU better. What do I even mean? Keep reading… I...

Yet Another Unexpected Surprise Coming To This Blog?

While I’ve just published the first unexpected turn of event triggered from this blog (click here to see). Last night, I’ve received yet another pleasant surprise originated from this humble blog. It might be still too early to finalise anything and it might not be materialised after all but hack care, just like to share the potential good news around, regardless of how big or small is it. So, the story goes like this : I’ve been approached by an advertiser (will not disclose the name until it is finalised) for a deal of advertising package to be placed on this 2-months...

Two Month Into This Blog And What Happened Today Is Not What I’ve Expected!

I started this blog on 18th march 2014 with the objective of sharing what I’ve learned (about investing) and the progress of my mini Shares Investment venture. Prior to this, I am a total newbie as far as shares investment is concerned. During this two months period, I’ve completed 3 “buy” transactions and am still holding on to them (if you are interested to know my humble pick, check out my meagre portfolio here). But what happens this afternoon is not something I’ve expected, it exceeded what I am asking for from blogging! Ok, it is nothing “life changing”, in fact, it is something very...

Two Key Much Needed Changes To Spur On More Retail Investors In Singapore

Personally, I am a newbie retail investor (and a very small one), hence, after testing the “water” for a couple of months, I find that the Singapore Stock Market is quite vibrant but more a playground for the big guys (or the corporate investors). The more I learned about the trade, the more I think it (shares investment) is one of the viable avenue to prevent corrosion of our hard-earned money from the inflation (as long as we do our homework). In any case, we all knew that the meagre interest rate from banks is no fight with the demon [read inflation]. Having said...

Why The "The Wolf Of Wall Street" Will Never Happens In Singapore?

If I remember correctly, the last movie from Martin Scorsese, The Wolf Of Wall Street (2013) is also the last movie on the shares market theme. To be frank, I have not watched it yet after reading from the papers that even though the movie was released here as R21 but it has quite an extensive cut (hence the boycott). So, what I am going to share are mainly from the reviews and trailers that I read about the movie. It is a true story adopted from the memoir/biography from Jordan Belfort (portrayed by Leonardo DiCaprio), a wealthy stock-broker living a high life of sex,...

What Do Retail Investor and Author Has In Common?

Being a small retail investor and hobbyist blogger (not yet an author) myself, it’s kind of dawn on me that there are one striking commonality between retail investor and author. Want to make a wild guess yourself? ;-) Minimally, I can relate these two roles on two aspects : 1. Both Author and Retail Investor are on our own: For author : they create the plot/storyline by themselves (with the helps of some personal experience or other people’s works) For retail investor : they create their portfolio by themselves (with the helps of some “insider” news or other people’s analysis) 2. Both Author and Retail...

Rekindled with FRIENDS… And The Reason Why I Didn’t Invest At Younger Age

Mid last month, when I was in Melbourne with wife for holiday, have a chance to rekindle with the once popular US sitcom, Friends (originally aired from 1994 to 2004). It was a repeat telecast and I am sure I’ve watched it more than once but the hilarious and slapstick jokes still never fail to tickle my funny bones. If you are “old” enough, I am sure you what I am talking about ;-) It brought back many memories for the old-time and set me thinking (or rather recall) what have I done during my young adult years and didn’t I think of shares investment then? You see, I considered myself a “kampong...

To me, Investing is a venture of HOPE!

After gotten my hand dirty in plunging into the game of shares investment for more than a month now, my view of this mini investment venture of mine is contrary to many others. Instead of viewing it as a game of calculated risks or probability, I view it as a Venture of HOPE! Why did I said so? From the first minute we step into the “game”, we HOPE that : 1. Our Analysis (Fundamental or Technical) is correct 2. We finally found the under-valued gems (before everyone else) 3. The Mr Market move in accordance to our ‘calculated’ prediction 4. The price that we bought...
