Portfolio Allocation (April 2019)

Stock Allocation Change Log Bought FRASERS PROPERTY Sold AIMS APAC REIT The rally continues into April and STI has reached closed to 3,400 points which is around 6% increase for the month and 13% increase for the year. It is harder to enter the market during a rally as most of the stocks would seem overprice. Luckily, I managed to picked up Frasers Property after the news that they acquired PGIM Real Estate AsiaRetail Fund. But this was not the news which caused to the price to rally. The news that really caused Frasers Property to gain attention was...

New DBS Multiplier. Great Disappointment.

The first thing I check when I woke this morning was the new changes in DBS Multiplier account. It is with great disappointment that it remains status quo, at least for me. I was hoping that DBS Multiplier will up the cap of $50,000 to $75,000 after SDIC increases the amount insured by banks, but that was not the case. In summary, if you do not have transactions in salary + 3 other categories (credit card/ investment/ insurance/ home loan), the new changes do not affect you.  DBS Multiplier interest is now applicable up to $100,000. But the catch...

May 2019 Singapore Savings Bond

Average interest per annual for 1-year and 10-year period For the past few months, interest rates have remain relatively flat as the Fed mentioned that there would not be any rate hikes for the year. As mentioned previously, it is better to put as much money as possible earlier into SSBs if there is no use for them. Do not hesitate or wait for the interest rates to go higher.  SSBs continue to be oversubscribed as it is becoming more popular as a risk-free investment with a relatively higher interest compared to traditional savings account. I am still adding...

The highest total gain was achieved back in January 2018. Looking back, the pace of market recovery was swift as my portfolio was still in unrealized lost just  4 months ago. If nothing goes wrong, I am expecting total gain to reach all-time high next month.  STI has increased by almost 10% YTD and it seems like the rally will continue in the short term. The  Brexit deadline has also...

March 2019 Portfolio Allocation Update

Stock Allocation No change for the month of March as the stock market continues to stay buoyant. Invert yield curves are backed in limelight and the market did a selloff briefly. It seems that investor are already numb to the news and the market recovers quickly. A inverted yield curve does not means that a recession is imminent. The duration of curve being inverted is also one of the factors for consideration. Even if a recession is coming, there is an average lead time of around 300 days based on past history so it may not be so soon....

Apr 2019 Singapore Savings Bond and SIA Bond

Other Issues of SSBs Compared to Apr 2019  Issue Although the March issue’s interest rates were not as attractive as the month for Feb, it was still oversubscribed and only those who applied below $38,500 were fully allocated. The increase in demand was probably due to the increase in Individual Limit and the permit to use SRS funds to purchase Singapore Savings Bond. This month rates are just marginally better than the previous month for the short term but it is not as good for the long term. I might be subscribing as I have additional cash from the...

I also took the opportunity to accumulate more CapitaR China Tr after it went Ex-Date in Feb. Portfolio Allocation The payout received for M1 resulted in the increase for Cash allocation. Mar 2019 Singapore Savings Bond

Other Issues of SSBs Compared to Mar 2019  Issue The demand for the Feb issue of Singapore Savings Bond was weak and everyone who has applied was fully allocated. The interest rates for this month issue are lowered than the previous month for both the short and long term which is why it is not that attractive for me. Although the interest rates are not as attractive this month, applicants are now able to use their SRS fund for purchase starting this month. There could be an increase in people who want to move their SRS funds into SSBs...

Dividend Collected for 2019 Dividend payout for the month of January 2019SINGTEL NIKKOAM SGBD ETF January is one of the months when there is not much dividend payout so this will be a short update. Most of the dividends will be coming this month instead, especially from the REITs.
