Sino Grandness (T4B) AGM 2016 Takeaways

Sino Grandness’ AGM was well attended by many curious and excited shareholders like myself. As usual, the management was kind enough to open the floor for Q&A, which lasted for 2 hours, before proceeding to vote on the resolutions. The Q&A provided a lot more clarity to shareholders on the current position of Sino Grandness and its future plans. I applaud the management’s patience and candour while being grilled for that 2 hours. Here are some of the Q&A exchanged during the AGM: 11 Question & Answers Question 1: Why was there a 3-fold increase in the salaries of key management personnel? (referring...

Recently I was speaking to a friend who just got started in the stock market and he told me that he wants to trade penny stocks. It aroused me to think why start with so much risk, after all, don’t we want to start slow? I thought it was make for an interesting read to anyone who is considering between investing and trading, and hopefully help them to decide which they want to pursue. My S.W.O.T Analysis For Q&M Dental (QC7)

Introduction Q&M Dental came into my mind when I decided that it’s been quite awhile since I last visited the dentist. I made an appointment with Q&M and was amazed at how fast I was able to get my appointment. I’m not sure if it is an isolated case, but from my experience, it seems like an interesting way to raise efficiency. What happened was, on Sunday, I called down at 4pm to ask if I could book an appointment on the earliest weekend for me to have my teeth checked. I was immediately given a slot at 8.30pm...

A Letter To Youths: The Price Of Failure

It’s always good to talk about dreams and goals with someone who shares the same passion as you do. Recently this thought struck me while I was having a discussion with my friend. “Why are people so afraid to fail?” What is the price of failure? I feel that too many of us do not understand that the price of failure has fallen and will keep falling. Maybe it’s because our nation (Singapore) is a relatively young nation and the price of failure in the past was HUGE! One mistake and you will be severely punished because we couldn’t...

My S.W.O.T Analysis For Riverstone Holdings (AP4)

This article will serve as a follow-up to My Bull Case For Riverstone (AP4) albeit presented in a different manner. My Bull Case For ISOTeam (5WF)

Introduction I managed to spot this undervalued gem with the help of a close friend of mine who brought ISOTeam to my attention when it IPOed in July 2013. I didn’t think much of it at that time since there was no public tranche and wasn’t a fan of IPOs as a long term investment. I’ve learnt from Ben Graham’s Intelligent Investor not to partake in IPOs since it’s mainly a cashing out exercise for the initial shareholders. Furthermore, earnings and valuations tend to be at its peak during IPOs as initial shareholders want to sell the shares as...

The Investing Sin Of Omission

While it’s true that opportunities lie everywhere, especially in the stock market, I write this to remind myself to stop passing up opportunities when I see a good deal come by. Today marks the day I broke the momentum of watching the ships sail by! Awhile back I actually did extensive research on companies, seeking out for investment opportunities, and I did find some. Every time I was close to making a purchase, I back out. I don’t know why, it could be part of a bad habit cycle that needs to be broken. I must admit, I have...

Data Crunching The STI Index

After reading Teh Hooi Ling’s book on $how Me The Money, there was one aspect about the book that stood out. Throughout the book, there is a lot of data crunching done and I thought, why not do it myself as well? Although it is a little bit tedious, but I thought it was quite worth the while to find potential investment ideas from within the STI Index. Just a little warning, it gets a little technical at the start! Let The Crunching Begin! So the first step of it all would be to gather as much data as...
