Gone are the days when employees view company loyalty as paramount and job hopping with a negative connotation. You can easily do a random search through your Linkedin contacts/peers and determine how many of them stay in a job for >5 years, especially in the early years of their working life.
Don’t get me wrong though, there is absolutely no right or wrong in staying in your first job for more than 5 years OR job hopping every 1-2 years. Our intention here is to share some of our experiences and learning points through this journey. We spoke to several of our peers to find out what exactly motivates them to job hop, and then integrate them with our personal motivations. It generally came down to 3 main factors.
