With the end of 2024Q3, we are coming towards the final quarter for 2024. This quarter had been an interesting one, with the Federal Reserve finally cutting interest rates by 50 basis points on 18 September 2024. This decreases the federal funds rate to a range from 4.75% to 5.00%, and there is also speculation that there may be a further interest rate cut before the end of 2024.

Singapore Savings Bond
The Singapore Savings Bond (“SSB”) rates were higher than previous quarter, with the October 2024 issue seeing a 10-year average return of 2.77%. As the SSB is backed by the Singapore Government and has a credit rating of AAA, for now this is one of the safest investments out there.
