1st July 2025: Amex CapitaCard to be Discontinued, CapitaStar App to Allow Mastercard Linkage

In an email sent to cardholders earlier this year, American Express announced the discontinuation of the Amex CapitaCard from 1st July 2025. At the same time, CapitaStar app will also allow Mastercard credit and debit cards to be linked to the app for payments from 1st July onwards. Looks like Amex is out and Mastercard is in for CapitaStar’s preferred payment partner. Discontinuation of Amex CapitaCard Amex CapitaCard users will be able to continue using the card until 30th June 2025, after which the card and all associated supplementary cards will be cancelled. The usual earn rate of 1X to 10X STAR$ (0.5% to 5% rebates) will continue to apply, though April 2025 will be the final month to qualify for the complimentary parking benefit. Cardholders who charge the required S$1,800 or S$2,400 to their Amex CapitaCard in April 2025 will enjoy Complimentary or Privileged parking in the month of June 2025, after which this benefit will cease....
