I tried to mail a parcel to Vietnam last year. What should have been a 10-minute errand turned into a 45-minute annoyance that left me questioning whether SingPost actually wants customers anymore.
Spoiler: I don’t think they do.
I Just Wanted To Mail A Parcel
For years, I’ve been sending parcels to my “daughter” through World Vision in Vietnam. It used to be straightforward. Walk to the nearest SAM machine, weigh the parcel, buy stamps, drop it off. Done.
Last year, I went to do exactly that. Except the SAM machine was gone.
No sign. No explanation. Just gone.
I tried another location. Also gone. I ended up at a post office branch where there was a queue, and the staff provided minimal help. Their solution? Scan the QR and use the SingPost website.
Fine. I pulled out my phone and it brought me to ezy2ship, SingPost’s online shipping platform. In other words, my worst nightmare....
