Just because you can afford it doesn’t mean you should buy it.
These are a few things I intentionally avoid spending on 👇
- Daily overpriced coffee ☕️
I used to think it’s “just a small expense,” but it adds up fast when it’s every day. Not saying never buy it—but when it becomes a habit, you’re literally drinking your savings.
Personal tip: I limit it to 1–2x a week and actually enjoy it more instead of mindlessly buying it daily.
- Trendy clothes I’ll only wear once 👚
It’s easy to get influenced by what’s trending, but most of the time, those pieces go out of style quick or just sit in your closet.
Personal tip: If I can’t see myself wearing it at least 5–10 times, I don’t buy it.
- Upgrading my phone for no real reason
New doesn’t always mean necessary. If your phone still works fine, upgrading is just an expensive want, not a need.
Personal tip: I only upgrade when my current phone actually slows me down or affects my productivity.
- Subscriptions I barely use
Streaming apps, random trials… they seem cheap monthly, but stack them together and it’s a lot.
Personal tip: I do a “subscription check” every month and cancel anything I didn’t use that week.
- Impulse buys (especially online)
Late night scrolling + “add to cart” = money gone for things I didn’t even plan to buy. Most of the time, it’s just a temporary feeling.
Personal tip: I wait 24 hours before buying anything non-essential. If I still want it after that, then I consider it.
