I’ve been earning miles on credit cards for years. Like many optimisers, I’ve leaned on a third-party MCC checker at the payment counter to figure out which of my cards earns the most on a given swipe. Tools like HeyMax work. They’re free. Breadth of merchant coverage is unbeatable. Ease of use too.
But every time I opened the app at a cashier, I was trusting someone else’s server, someone else’s rule logic, and someone else’s crowdsourced data. For something I do multiple times a week, that dependency felt lazy. I wasn’t always sure how much to trust a given entry either.
So I built my own and called it Miles Bot. It knows my 3 credit cards. It knows the inclusions and exclusions in their T&Cs. It answers in natural language, one question in, one answer out. And it runs on Claude Haiku (actually, any AI model that reads files would work), always on, essentially free....
