yuu users and DBS cardholders are able to redeem Apple’s 11th generation iPad (A16, 128GB) for just 99,800 yuu Points or 15,000 DBS Points. Is this a good deal? I think so, with a few caveats.
Apple’s recent price hike increases the attractiveness of this redemption
yuu Points can normally be redeemed for a valuation of 0.50 cents per point. Given that the iPad requires 99,800 yuu Points, this redemption works out to be exactly S$499 – matching the usual retail price of the iPad.
It’s therefore a pretty unexciting redemption, until you factor in the fact that Apple has recently hiked the retail price of this particular model to S$649. Electronics chain stores, official resellers, and even individuals on Carousell have also increased prices to match, and I estimate that the street price of this particular iPad model now to be around S$600.
For reasons unknown, both yuu Rewards Club and DBS seem to have priced it at the old retail price....
