Buffed: UOB Absolute and OCBC 360 Raise Rates For a Limited Time

Nothing earth-shattering, but UOB Absolute and OCBC 360 have announced increased rates for a limited period of time. UOB Absolute: bonus 0.3% cashback on contactless payment From 4th August 2026 to 31st January 2027, UOB Absolute cardholders will get additional 0.3% cashback on eligible contactless transactions. Coupled with the base earn rate of 1.7%, the total earn rate is 2% for such transactions. OCBC 360: increased bonus interest for Save category From 1st August to 31st December 2026, OCBC has increased the effective interest rate of OCBC 360 savings account. This is achieved with higher bonus interest rates from the Save category:

First S$75,000 0.40% 0.50% p.a.
Next S$25,000 0.40% 1.10% p.a.
For S$100,000 Effective: 0.40% 0.65% p.a.
This means that for S$100,000 of savings – the optimal amount to keep in OCBC 360 – the effective interest rate is 1.95% p.a. for those who complete the Salary and Save categories, up from the usual 1.70% p.a. For those who complete Salary, Save, and Spend, the maximum interest rate would be 2.20%...

As an adult, I’ve been through many ups and downs in my career path and personal finance journey, not unlike many Singaporeans. From my years as a tied insurance agent turned independent financial adviser, I realised that there are very few sources of proper, unbiased financial advice for working adults to access. Worse, self-styled “financial consultants” are selling products like savings plans and ILPs to the detriment of the clients whose interests they were supposed to serve.
