Singapore Mega Export Growth! Boom for all Singaporeans?
By 1M65  •  September 18, 2026
Singapore’s non-oil domestic exports surged 46.2% year-on-year in August 2026, with electronics exports jumping 131.8%. The biggest drivers include integrated circuits, computer systems and data-storage products — all closely linked to the global AI infrastructure boom. But here’s the bigger question: who in Singapore is actually benefiting from this boom? Semiconductor manufacturing, memory, data centres, precision engineering and AI-linked services are riding the upper leg of the economy, while traditional retail, F&B and some lower-value businesses may be seeing much slower growth. In this video, I explain:
  • What Singapore is actually exporting
  • Why AI is driving such explosive demand
  • Which industries are benefiting most
  • How this affects Singapore GDP through C + I + G + X − M
  • Why Singapore may be experiencing a K-shaped economy
  • And most importantly, what ordinary Singaporeans can do to move toward the faster-growing side of the economy
The key message is simple: you don’t need to become an AI engineer — but you do need to learn how to use AI effectively in your own job, profession or business.
