My Retirement Planning Project 2013 – Property ?

Like everyone else, I dreamed of owning my own place since young. In fact, I have the entire series of IKEA catalog starting from year 1995 – 2014. Buying a HDB Resale at 35 ? When I reached 35 in 2009, I was very excited. Hurray ! I could finally buy a HDB resale flat ! Then, I had approximately SGD 322K of investment generating a passive income of SGD 20K and SGD 222K of CPF. I spent endless hours looking through PropertyGuru, iProperty etc. hunting for suitable flats to buy (A 3 room cost approx. 250 – 450K...

My Retirement Planning Project 2013 – SGD 51 K per year passive income ?

Last month, I shared how I had to extend my retirement age from 42 (SGD 5K per month passive income target) to 47 (SGD 10K per month passive income target) after the shocking discovery that my expenditure per year exceeded what I initially thought I needed. Besides looking at my expenses, I also took an extra effort this year as part of the retirement planning project to scrutinize the patterns of my passive income. Stability of Passive Income  Having a stable & reliable stream of passive income gives me peace of mind. Thus, it is one of my key...

My Stock Report Card for December 2013

My Stock Report Card for December 2013 Total Dividend Collected from Jan – Dec 2013 : SGD 51,291. A very exciting month. US Market is really noisy with all the tapering talks. Everything in SG market is in a bargain. Bought some ST Engg, Capitaland, CapitaMall and Suntec Reit. Twitter went all the way up to $60 !!! Facebook joined S&P 500 Stock Index. Mark Zuckerburg sold 41 million shares of FB. Finally, I managed to cross the 50K mark for Dividend Income. Happy :-)....

About Me

I’m a single lady who aspires to achieve financial freedom. I graduated from university with a salary of only SGD 2,200 per month and started this financial freedom project in 2005 when my career came to a transition. Being the sole breadwinner for a family of 4, I needed desperately to figure out how long I can survive without a job with my pathetic savings. While sorting out my finances, I came across my Central Depository statements and realized that passive incomes can be generated through dividends. 7 years after I started my project in 2005 with a 112K SGD budget, I...

My Retirement Planning Project 2013 – Retire by 42 ?

When I kickstarted my retirement planning project this year, I asked myself two question. When should I retire and how much do I need to retire. 80 is the new 60 when it comes to retirement ? The Singapore paper highlighted that more are living beyond 100 years old and that the average livespan of a lady has increased to 84.5 years old !!! I remembered receiving quite a number of sms from friends that day exclaiming that they really don’t want to live THAT long. How ironic, our ancestors spend all their life seeking longevity while our generation...

My Stock Report Card for November

My Stock Report Card for November 2013 Total Dividend Collected from Jan – Nov 2013 : SGD 48,466. Mixed feelings this month. I sold SIA away because I was getting tired of this share. As a traveller with Krisflyer, I could feel that their differentiation is slipping away. Besides that, I was thinking of using the cash to buy some Twitter at around US $17 during it’s IPO. Didn’t managed to get Twitter in the end as there was too much hype around it. Twitter went all the way up to US $50.09 !! It’s madness. Anyhow, I will...
