I have never been a big fan of penny stocks and this episode is a simple but effective reminder of the risks which you are taking if you speculate in penny stocks. The combined market cap of the penny stocks went from $11 billion to close to $1 bil. All 3 stocks dropped between 70+ to 90%+ in value. According to newspaper, many people lost a lot of money in these stocks, losing anywhere from few thousands to hundreds of thousands. It simply shows that punting is still very prevalent in the market and not many people choose to invest for the long term.
