One of the things that I observed of my peers is that it is easy to get tired of living and playing in Singapore. That is why going overseas for a vacation is always necessary. The vacation not just act as a breakaway from work, but they served as achievement markers. So they engaged in a game of collecting these achievements, visit Korea, Hong Kong, Vietnam. Then the big achievements is to travel to Europe and the USA. When money is tight not hitting these achievements would prove detrimental, as they felt their life lack meaning. In a certain sense, our financial life is also like that. There are small achievements and there are large achievements.
