Flattening the curve – Online purchases become the norm

During the circuit breaker, all Singaporeans are doing their best to stay at home as much as they can. This means reducing the frequency to go out – that includes buying your meals, withdrawing cash from ATMs. With the recent announcement by McDonald’s that takeaways are not allowed during this period; online deliveries are becoming the more frequent way to shop. Parenting is a struggle – especially during this stay-home period where parents struggle with home-based learning and coping with their own work. With never-ending household chores, home-based learning questions, and your own work commitments, preparing all three meals for your family can be a struggle for some parents. Teaching our children how to make purchases online – should be added to our To-do list of things to do during this stay-home period. Taby was started by Jun Yi and Ann Qi in Stockholm under the NUS Overseas colleges, an enterprise arm of the university. During our stint in Sweden, we observed an increasing trend of card and digital payments in Stockholm and across Europe. Further research led us to uncover the prevalence of this wave of payment methods in the U.S. and parts of Asia across different types of markets. Both of us quickly saw the opportunity of this application in the teens market and we decided to form a team consisting of 4 NUS students to make it a reality.
