It seems like a big storm is approaching. Work has been pretty mundane and it is clear that the economic complications from the Covid-19 pandemic has started to manifest. There are fewer tenders in the market and lesser sales opportunities. There is an unmistakable tension in the office.
Over the past week, mainstream media reported that Robinson’s has thrown in the towel and decided to liquidate. It is a sad end to one of Singapore’s most established and renowned departmental store. I visited the Raffles City outlet earlier during the weekend and many of the shelves were emptied with crowds thronging for the last minute sale. Interesting how you only see queues when something is closing down/going off.
