Market Rally This Year. Really? Stock markets in major economies has been performing very well year to date. Dow Jones Industrial Average is up 3.93% year to date. The Nasdaq Composite Index is up 8.19% this year and the S&P 500 Index is up 9.14% year to date. In other major economies, the FTSE 100 Index is up 2.61% while the DAX is up 9.14% this year. The Nikkei 225 Index is the best performer with a 17.89% gain. The only exceptions are Hong Kong and Singapore which has seen the stock market decline this year.
