A Fool And His Money Are Soon Parted

Since the last post I made in February, markets have inched up and given me a nice return. 2024 has been on a tear and my networth has increased 19% from stocks. I’m sitting at $1.050 million and amazingly getting richer despite not working. Since I am enjoying my sabbatical, I am taking the chance to catch up with friends and relatives. Over these meetups, I’ve received business propositions from multiple people. These ranged from (A) investment “tips”, (B) an offer to become a distributor for weight-loss products and (C) offers to purchase private equity in 2 different businesses. Each proposition was different from the rest, but there was one common thread across all of them. They were all landmines that didn’t pass SSP’s skeptical mind. I recount the stories below with names changed for anonymity.
