$13,000 in C class ward for amputation of two legs

This was reported in Straits Times 8 April 2011 entitled “I Want to See My Family”. This is likely due to the fact that Ms Peneakchanasak Nitcharee, a foreign student who has her legs amputated after falling into the MRT track, was not entitled to any government subsidy. Many foreigners are not aware that with effect from October 2007, they do not enjoy any government subsidy with the exception of emergency services at the hospital A&E.
