According to Bloomberg report Munich Re: Prostitutes Attended Rewards Party, top salespersons were rewarded with prostitutes.
While I never heard of such cases in Singapore's context, it is very common that top insurance salespersons are rewarded with lavish perks and expensive holidays. The following are examples of real incentive trips offered to top producers hitting the respective's insurance companies' sales target: Hong Kong Trip, Taipei, Xi'an , Cambodia, Las Vegas, Hokkaido, etc. There is no guessing who is paying for these perks and at the end of the day, salespersons are NEVER EVER rewarded for putting their clients' interest first. The only KPI is the sales target. This is how the industry works. Sometime it seems that the last person whom the man-in-the-street to consult for their financial independence is the financial consultant. The lesson? Achieve your own financial independence ......
