Reflections

Two-thirds of the year is coming to a close and it has been quite a busy year so far with new experiences. Have been meaning to write a new entry for the past few days, but my schedule of late has been quite hectic with quite a lot of things to do. There has been seemingly unlimited things to learn and I have been enjoying every bit. I have been told to be a very technical person and I am perpetually hungry for new information. True enough, I realised that I have chalked up almost 100 Continuous Professional Development (CPD) hours, having spent that amount of time on training to improve my competency in various aspects of the enormous subject matter we call financial planning. As an adult, I’ve been through many ups and downs in my career path and personal finance journey, not unlike many Singaporeans. From my years as a tied insurance agent turned independent financial adviser, I realised that there are very few sources of proper, unbiased financial advice for working adults to access. Worse, self-styled “financial consultants” are selling products like savings plans and ILPs to the detriment of the clients whose interests they were supposed to serve.
