Written by Wilfred Ling  Saturday, 30 June 2012 Today, I gave a talk on retirement planning for those in their 30s to 50s. The venue was at Singapore Management University. In the talk, I demonstrated a few retirement portfolios. The worst portfolio turns out to be an all equities portfolio for a retiree while the portfolio that turns out to be best was a fixed deposit! They were stunned by this revelation. I also gave three approaches to retirement planning and one of those is Morte Carlo simulation. I also covered existing retirement planning products and revealed the advantages and disadvantages of each of these products. I did not provide the names of any of these products as I do not wish to get lawyers letters from product manufacturers for saying the politically incorrect but truthful facts!
