Singapore has been ranked the world’s most expensive city, according to a report. When I read this news, I am a bit surprised as though I believe that the cost of living in Singapore is high, all along I have not thought that Singapore is the world’s most expensive city.
The ranking does not include the cost of public transport and the cost of housing, two areas which I identify as still quite affordable for most of Singaporeans.
I think the following are expensive in Singapore:
(a) Dining: a plate of rice or noodles costs easily at least $3.50 and the amount is still not sufficient to fill my stomach.
(b) Medical cost: medical bills are expensive here but I believe the price tags commensurate with the quality of doctors and services. I am also heartened that the government is continuing to make medical costs affordable to many.
