A scene from the Brad Pitt movie World War Z stands out in my mind, outlining an Israeli concept called the 10th Man Strategy. In essence it is described by one character something like this: if a group of 10 men have to make a collective decision, and 9 of them have already agreed on one course of action, then it is the duty of the 10th to say stop, and to provide an alternative voice.

You can obviously infer that I am a supporter of having an opposition in parliament, but I will be quick to distance myself from the disgruntled Singaporeans that are comically of two minds between wielding pitchforks, and throwing their hands up in despair at the "freak result". Online comments vary from Jeyaratnam style "don't complain now" remarks, to number sleuths attempting to attribute the upset to new citizens, to distasteful and irrational anger.
