Paper Chase

Three years into my first job after graduation, I contemplated about hitting the books again. Despite two decades of paper chase, I still itched to add one more shiny certificate.  I knew it had to be related to finance, where my interest lies.  I pondered about getting either a Master of Business Administration (MBA) or a professional certification like the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA). Each choice has its own merits.  An MBA opens doors to a wide range of better employment opportunities.  For example, the big banks have a management associate (MA) programme which an MBA holder from a prestigious university will have a good chance of joining.  Once you are in the MA cohort, you are rotated into various departments for exposure.  The capable ones are groomed for future leadership roles.
