I was pleasantly surprised that two of my value plays, Boustead Singapore Limited (F9D.SI) and CWT Limited (C14.SI), gained 6.01% and 6.92% respectively last week, considerably overperforming STI which declined by 0.13% over the same period.

For Boustead, the price appreciation was gradual throughout the week, pushing up the impressive 1-month performance to more than +13%.

In the case of CWT Limited, the price shot up on a single day on 21 Mar from 1.32 to 1.39 with an intra-day high of 1.405.

The strong performance relative to STI was puzzling because there were no significant announcements during this period as far as I know. The lack of up-to-date news is a frustrating issue of investing in the Singapore market.
